Beaudesert Regular Cattle Sale – 26th September 2020

Agents Bartholomew & Co reported a reduced yarding of 367 head of cattle at their Beaudesert Regular Cattle Sale on Saturday.  All descriptions sold to a dearer market.  A quality line-up of feeder and backgrounder steers came to hand, selling to exceptional rates.  Females, particularly cows and calves, were in strong demand.

BJF Limousin Sale – 14th August 2020

The 4th annual BJF Limousin Bull and Female sale took place on Friday 14th August on property at Yarraman. An outstanding line up of bulls were presented selling to a top of $27,000 to average $7,630.95. In addition, the tremendous run of cows and calves sold to a top of $6,500 to average $5,500 whilst the heifers offered topped at $10,000 to average $4,107.14. With Covid restrictions in place a great panel of buyers travelled from right across Queensland as well as having a large online presence through Elite Livestock from Southern New South Wales and into South Australia.

The sale got off to a flying start with lot 1 Oakwood B-Boy account Oakwood Limousins selling for $17,000. The homozygous black, homozygous polled Limousin bull was purchased by Aruma Limousins of Two Wells South Australia. Paul and Kellie Forman of Oakwood Limousin Stud also sold lot 35 Oakwood Boom Bap for $14,000. At only 18 months of age this great young bull was a definite crowd favourite, however it was Garth Birrer of Nanango who was the successful purchaser of the bull. Peter and Pauline Grant of The Downfall Limousin stud of Willsons Downfall NSW presented a run of 8 outstanding black, red and apricot bulls. Lot 6 The Downfall Easter Ways P25 which was a black homozygous polled bull topped at $9,000 and sold to MH & CR Packer of Roma. Peter and Pauline also sold lot 32 The Downfall West Cadillac for $8,500 to MK Cattle Company of Murgon. The Grants also offered an opportunity to purchase the pick of two embryo flush sister heifers which were lots 48 and 49. The perfectly put together heifers brought strong competition to the sale and sold for $10,000. The successful purchaser and fellow vendor at the sale Gold Crest Limousins of Crows Nest chose lot 48, The Downfall Kaye Queen (Q10).

Bradley and Jodie Frohloff of The BJF Limousin stud at Yarraman put together a great run of bulls, cows and calves and heifers. Their 16 bulls were a true credit to their breeding program and their passion for presenting a quality product. Lot 10 BJF Thaiday Dunedoo which was a black, homozygous polled bull sold for $12,000 to Online bidder Rakus Holdings. They also sold Lot 11 BJF Big Star Bigtime, a homozygous polled and homozygous black bull for $11,000 to Steve Little of Esk. Lot 7 BJF Chunk Dilrook which was a polled apricot bull, sold for $9,000 to James Radke of Allenview. In addition, BJF Limousin Stud offered 2 great Cows and Calves in lots 45 and 46. Lot 45 BJF Thaiday Angel with heifer calf at foot which is sired by LFLC Denver sold for $4,500 to George Massam of Canungra. Lot 46 BJF Bubba Candy and cracker bull calf at foot sired by BJF Zane Wally and sold for $5,500 to Peter and Helen Little of Toogoolawah. The team also sold 4 top quality heifers in lots 52-55. The top was lot 54 BJF Chunk Wendy which sold for $3,500 to Steven and Karen Fox of Carneys Creek. The Foxes also purchased lot 55 BJF MKS Donna for $3250 as well as lot 52 BJF Denver Angelique for $2,500.

Darren and Shelly Hartwig of Gold Crest Limousin stud, Crows Nest offered lot 13 Gold Crest Jackeroo Quincey, a polled apricot Bull which was purchased by Laurence Hack of Alpha for $12,000. The Hartwigs of Gold Crest Limousins also offered 2 heifers in lots 50 and 51 which sold for $4,000 and $3,000 respectively. David and Jessica Eagleson of Ulster 1 Limousins sold 3 bulls which included the sale topper in lot 17 Ulster 1 Peyton. The 24 month old, 960 kg apricot, homozygous polled bull sold for a whopping $27,000 to Alpha purchaser Laurence Hack. Lot 16 Ulster 1 Paul which was also an apricot bull sold for $9,000 to Peter and Helen Little of Toogoolawah. Simon and Kerry McCarthy of Lochinvar Limousin stud Mount Molar offered 5 bulls at this year’s sale, with lot 18 Lochinvar Prince selling for $4,000 to Bony Villa Limousins of Boompa. They also sold lot 19 Lochinvar Party Boy for $4,000 which was purchased by online bidder Graham and Karen Richards of Palen Creek. Hayden Beresford of Bony Villa Limousins put together a great run of apricot bulls, with the top of their bulls reaching $7,000 for lots 22 and 24. Lot 22 Bony Villa Paddles was purchased by G Duncan of Wilson Valley and Lot 24 Bony Villa Peter Pan sold to L & R Goode of Banana. They also sold lot 23 Bony Villa Paul Biz for $6,500 to Jaeger Stripp of Josephville. Michael and Toni Dwan of Elwanvale Limousins at Allora offered one bull at this year’s sale in lot 29, Elwanvale Pure Fancy which sold for $6,000 to D Duncan of Gayndah. Ray Zahnow of Fernvale Limousins presented an outstanding 23 month old, black, homozygous polled bull in Lot 30 Fernvale Phoenix. The 910 kg bull sold for $11,000 to Tony Abbot of Nanango. Ray also offered lot 47 in Fernvale Madonna with heifer calf at foot by Benjarra Earthquake which sold for $6,500 to Provenance Limousins at Fernvale.

In conclusion, it was a credit to all vendors for presenting a tremendous line up of cattle given the seasonal circumstances of the past 18 months.
